Head teaching in Luton

Our school leaders are committed to raising standards, and in recent years outcomes for children have significantly improved. Inspectors rate most of our schools either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.  Our services for children and young people - from education to child protection - are already good, according to Ofsted, the Audit Commission and the Healthcare Commission. But we want them to be even better. That’s why it’s such an exciting time to be here.

We want achievement in Luton, at all levels, to be above the national average, and we’re well on the way.

There are several school networks across the town, focused very much on school to school self improvement.  These included:

• Five geographically located neighbourhood partnership groups;
  
• A federation of high schools known as Luton Futures;
  
• Two multi-academy groups;
  
• The Borough wide Progression and Transition Board , which is a forum that brings together the high schools, sixth form and FE colleges, University,  work based learning providers, and representatives of the LA school improvement service.
  

We’re also setting the pace on supporting children, with family workers, learning mentors and the SEAL programme in schools.
